16 brown and beige plush leather Fainsa VIP Gala seats stylishly portray an almost arm chair living area for passengers. The rear of the Mercedes boasts 2 walnut finished saloon tables offering a semi-private conference meeting area, separate from the first 9 seats.

Luggage racks with leather trim underside, window sills trimmed in leather and a chrome pack to the grill and door handles sees every inch of this vehicle having a carefully thought out plan of pure luxury.

Adding to the convenience we’ve included a generous fridge next to the driver’s seat and a surround sound DVD system with 2 screens allowing passengers to enjoy film footage or music for pleasure or business.

We launched the vehicle at the recent Coach and Bus Live at the NEC in Birmingham and was sold at the show for £73,000.

Stanford’s latest conversion in the public limelight

Bariatric Ambulance Conversion for Thames Ambulance

The latest vehicle to be converted for Thames Ambulance Service is a star in its own right.

The Fiat Ducato L3 H2, 3 litre 160 dci turbo was commissioned by the Bariatric division, the branch of medicine concerned with obese patients and was delivered this at the end of October.

The conversion process at Stanford has been filmed by a television company and will be aired in the New Year as part of a 6 week Channel 5 series following numerous bariatric services including Thames Ambulance Service, their staff and their patients.

The 6 part series developed from the success of “Supersized Ambulance” an earlier one-off BBC1 programme which featured the Thames Ambulance Service bariatric division. The programme highlighted the not so obvious issue of moving the super-obese to and from the hospital bed which has become both a traumatic challenge for patients and a possible danger for medical staff. The bariatric ambulances are able to mobilise people who weigh up to 70 Stone.

Well done to us!

Former England cricket captain is batting with Stanford Coachworks

Cricket legend Graham Gooch, was bowled over to present The Lord’s Taverners Minibus to Southview School in Witham, Essex.

The former Essex and England Cricket Captain took delivery of the brand new bus, at the school, from Jess Rider, Co-Director, of Stanford Coachworks in Stanford-le-Hope. Stanford Coachworks have been suppliers of minibuses to The Lord’s Taverners since 2005, all of which make a bold statement with their eye-catching green livery.

Southview School of Witham, Essex is dedicated to providing support and education for physically and neurologically impaired (PNI) pupils. The school has extremely high standard facilities and utilise a holistic approach to their much needed work. AACESS equipment is used along with innovative technology to provide the best possible resources for their children.

Jess Rider of Stanford was privileged to be able to make a substantial contribution to the bus of £14,000. This phenomenal amount was achieved through sponsorship of Jess successfully completing the 2009 London Marathon.

In recognition of this triumph, The Lord’s Taverners had Jess’s name written on the back of the vehicle.

“I was so surprised,” exclaimed Jess. “I never expected to be acknowledged on the bus itself; I couldn’t stop smiling all day.”

Jess says: “The donation was Stanford’s way of showing a commitment to the excellent work and cause that The Lord’s Taverners stand for.”

Coach Conversion Offers Greater Luxury for Travel

One of the South East’s leading coach operators has added three Mercedes Sprinter 516 CDi minicoaches to their modern 40 vehicle fleet.

Buzzlines Travel Ltd appointed Stanford Coachworks to carry out the conversion of its Mercedes Sprinter long wheel base coaches and is delighted with the result.

The high-spec conversion included aperture bonded panoramic windows, Fainsa Stel reclining M2 tested ‘City Jeans’ seats, subtle LED lighting and  Eberspacher Moscow air conditioning. Safety and convenience features include parking sensors, central locking, Bluetooth connectivity and iPod docks. To maximise luggage capacity the vehicles have been specified with Mercedes van rear doors with 180 degree opening and a full height luggage hold, incorporating a fold down shelf to allow double decking of luggage and enhanced boot space lighting.

Much of the work carried out by Stanford was bespoke and all vehicles comply with the Road Vehicle Construction & Use Regulations 1986 with C.O.I.F. certificate supplied. The final coach was delivered on 7th July.Buzzlines customers have also been impressed and the vehicles and all three have been immediately commissioned for use by a pharmaceutical client, where the enhanced luggage capacity proved invaluable when transporting corporate clients to the British Open golf championship.

Buzzlines Contract Manager Mark Drury said: “We are really impressed with the quality of Stanford’s work. The specification was a little bespoke and it’s refreshing to know they can handle it.

“The Mercedes Sprinter is an excellent product. Being an automatic was important along with the luggage capacity of the bus. The end result is exactly as we hoped it would be.”

Buzzlines offer luxury, air-conditioned coaches and minibuses for hire, with capacities ranging from eight to 53 seats. The Kent and Surrey based company has been running high-quality UK and European coach trips, holidays, day excursions, theatre and golf trips as well as conferencing travel and air and cruise packages.for over 20 years. Stanford has provided a three-year guarantee on spare parts and labour in respect of the conversion work.

Stanford Coachworks operates a customer partnership ethos, generating a quiet confidence with reliability, safety, and superior quality as principal elements underlining their whole business structure; they call it the Stanford Distinction.

Mercedes Upgrade Boosts High-Profile Travel

Transporting prestigious clients to high-profile events requires a luxury vehicle to ensure they arrive in style.

And Colt Minibuses are able to offer high-end travel courtesy of a top-of-the-range Mercedes Sprinter Coach converted by Stanford Coachworks. Both companies are based in Essex and have known each other for five years.

The 16-seater Sprinter 513 coach has an extra long wheelbase with O/s side load door, automatic gearbox  and a 62mph speed limiter. It is carpeted throughout with leather recliner seats, comfort driver’s seats, panoramic tinted windows, air-conditioning, subtle LED lighting and a high-end multimedia system for the comfort of travellers. It attracts attention wherever it travels, with passers-by admiring its livery and frequently asking to look inside.

Colt owner Charlie O’Neal is delighted with the conversion, which has been extremely popular with his clientele. It is booked up almost every day three months in advance.

He says: “I had a previous 16 –seater Mercedes; my biggest mistake was buying it and the second biggest mistake was getting it converted by a company other than Stanford Coachworks.

“Stanford is always on top of their game with legislation, they provide industry C.O.I.F. certification to ensure the end customer has everything they need for the safety of the vehicle.

“In life you have to trust people, my customers trust me as their driver and I trust the guys at Stanford, they know what they are doing.

“It’s all about perception with the Mercedes and it is having a real impact.”

In the future, Charlie is considering bringing another luxury vehicle into the business to meet growing demand.

Colt provides coach travel to race events, golf trips and theatre trips, as well as special occasions and luxury airport transfer. They have transported clients to world-class venues such as the Savoy and Royal Albert Hall. Celebrity clients include international dance sensation Diversity who were transported to Heathrow Airport.

Even in tough economic times, people are willing to pay for top quality and conversion and mobility specialist Stanford is successfully meeting that demand.

Co-Director Jess Rider says: “We are delighted that we were able to meet Colt’s requirements. We always ensure our work is of the highest quality and are continually expanding our client base.”

The company, founded in 1994 and a member of the Vehicle Builders and Repairers Association, supplies over 350 buses a year and have just completed a handover to supply a further three Mercedes Sprinters to well-known London operator Buzzlines.

Stanford Coachworks offers a Vehicle Improvement Programme as part of its services, enabling clients to extend the life of their vehicles and bring them bang up to date.  The company operates a customer partnership ethos, generating a quiet confidence with reliability, safety, and superior quality as principal elements underlining their whole business structure; they call it the Stanford Distinction.

FA Cup Scores for St. Ann’s Hospice

St. Ann’s Hospice in Manchester has taken receipt of a brand new Renault Master Wheelchair Accessible Minibus as part of their care to around 3000 patients, relatives and carers in and around the Greater Manchester area.

The hospice, the largest in the north of England, celebrates its 40th Anniversary in 2011 of providing care to adults who are affected by life limiting illness.

The new minibus, donated by Manchester City Football Club, was sourced and built in a very short timescale of just three weeks by conversion and mobility specialists Stanford Coachworks Ltd.

The handover took place on 22nd June at St Ann’s Hospice in Heald Green and was greeted by a large and excited audience. The event was attended by special guests including previous Manchester City football players Mike Summerbee and Paul Lake, City in the Community Managing Director Sarah Lynch, St Ann’s Finance Director Liam McCarthy, Stanford Coachwork’s Representatives David Hardacre and David Wiggins and was filmed by CityTV. To the surprise of all who attended, the FA Cup was displayed alongside the bus, players and patients.

“When news of the minibus sponsorship came in from the Club we immediately thought of Stanford Coachworks because of our existing relationship with them and their excellent quality conversions” Liam commented.

St Ann’s is a registered charity and provides its services free of charge. It covers a population of 1.2 million people and provides care on 3 sites as well as in people’s own homes. The Hospice receives a third of its funding from local NHS Primary Care Trusts and has to raise the rest of the money itself which equates to £16,000 per day.

The Renault special purpose conversion has 6 passenger seats together with 3 wheelchair passengers, plus the driver, a specialist Ricon wheelchair lift and has external livery branded for St Ann’s and Manchester City Football Club. Because of the large catchment area the Hospice serves the new accessible vehicle will be a real benefit.

“We  previously supplied two buses to St. Ann’s four years ago and as there is a current shortage of smaller vehicles with no MWB Peugeot Fiat or Citroen vehicles available at the time, I managed to locate a 3500LWB Renault Master,” explained David of Stanford Coachworks.

“Slightly larger than the vehicle initially required, it does allow an additional wheelchair space in the minibus which the Hospice have said will be useful.”

The minibus went into immediate service on the day of the handover and has been a welcome addition to the hospice’s transport facility.

Sarah Lynch, Managing Director of CITC said: “We are delighted to have been able to support St Ann’s, a hugely important North West Charity, particularly as they enter their 40th year. The bus will be of such great value to people in the local area, and we are proud to have been involved.”

Do your transport vehicles need the VIP treatment?

It’s still commercially tough in our economic climate, what with budget cuts and inflated supply chain costs, yet there are still some saviours out there.

Stanford Coachworks, conversion and mobility specialists founded in 1994 have developed a cost effective solution to revitalise your fatigued minibus – the Vehicle Improvement Programme (VIP), a welcomed resolution when belts need to be tightened.

“We understand the need for organisations to improve their vehicles rather than simply replace them; times can be hard,” explains Stanford’s Co-Director Jess Rider.

“The VIP service had a soft launch a few weeks ago and offers a great opportunity for many minibus owners and companies to add years to the life of their vehicles and save considerably money in the long run.”

Stanford assessed the market over a period of 12 months and liaised closely with valued customers to create three exclusive packages, Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each package is designed to suit variables in budget, timeframe, and requirements to ensure each vehicle has the appropriate TLC it deserves.

“Our vehicle was old, built on a good quality chassis and with low mileage however, it needed a complete face lift and an improved, updated interior,” explained George Brown, Bus Manager for Melksham Council of Community Service (MCCS)

“We went for the Gold package after joint consultations and the whole vehicle was completely restored and repainted, to our specifications, giving it a fresh new appearance, the whole package was good value, with top quality work & materials, with hands on approach by management.

“With very little capital available, refurbishment was a cost effective solution, saving £1000’s compared to a new bus and we once again can give our customers a comfortable fresh environment for many more years.”

Improvement options are for any make or model of vehicle and include a choice of new pattern seat materials, or replacements, repair and repaint of damaged bodywork, floor coverings and full valets with an extensive range of additional inclusions and specification upgrades.

The VIP service provides full body, tyre, engine level (not mechanical), fire extinguisher and first aid safety checks, plus legal decal reporting.

Once your vehicle has received the VIP treatment a certification is provided in accordance to ISO9001/2008 quality procedures.

New Minibus Handover from Stanford Coachworks to St John Ambulance

Voluntary and community groups across Staffordshire are now able to utilise affordable accessible transport as St John Ambulance takes delivery of a new minibus.

The new vehicle was converted by Stanford Coachworks and Mobility Services Ltd, into a 10 seat bus that will accommodate 3 wheelchairs and was handed over to St John Ambulance at their Stafford Branch to Commander Maureen Upton by David Hardacre of Stanford.

“It is a fantastic service that St John Ambulance is providing for the local community and it is great to be a part of such a good cause,” explains David.

Delivery of the 10 seat Volkswagen minibus means the launch of a new community transport service run by St John Ambulance.  Following a grant from DEFRA, the charity is able to run the service to help those in rural areas access activities such a lunch clubs, youth groups and social events.

The project’s coordinator Bobby O’Gorman explains  “The service has been developed to help those living in rural communities, including young, older people and those with disabilities, get to events, clubs or activities that they might not otherwise be able to get to.”

The project was developed by St John Ambulance following a Staffordshire County Council report estimated that around 66% of lone pensioners households do not have access to a car or van and the council’s Your Voice (2009) consultation said that ‘available, accessible and affordable transport’ is a key issue for older people, people with mental ill health, people with a learning disability, physical or sensory disability or long term conditions.

“We provide many conversions for charitable organisations and each one is slightly different, depending upon the support being offered and the needs of the end users,” explains Jess Rider, Co-Director of Stanford Coachworks.

“St John Ambulance’s support service has been eagerly awaited and will be greatly appreciated once the 4th July launch takes place in Staffordshire.”

The first group the charity worked with on this project was Stafford Stroke Club who approached St John Ambulance to help in transporting their members to meetings and lunches. Each week members are picked up by a St John Ambulance minibus and crew taken to the club and returned home later in the day. Attending the groups helps stroke victim’s recovery and rehabilitation and with regular transport provided by St John Ambulance the membership of the group has grown.

Bobby ends “The St John Ambulance project is not only about transporting people from A to B but about improving their wellbeing by helping them widen their social life.”
