Age UK Spalding has received the keys for their new community support 15 seater wheelchair accessible Iveco Daily Iris minibus.

David Hardacre delivered the 3950 mm wheelbase, Euro Five compliant turbo diesel engine minibus in person to Liz Walmsley, General Manager of the Age UK John Van Geest Day Centre in Spalding at the end of April.

“We originally quoted for a brand new minibus but with budget against us we revised with vehicle specification to a quality used wheelchair accessible minibus that we knew would become available in March” explains David, Sales and Marketing Executive.

Age UK Spalding had a demonstration of the vehicle and secured first refusal on the day; the newer bus replaces a previous 2003 Iveco model.

The minibus specification includes exceptional mobility additions including an IVA compliant SCW alloy plank tested floor, overlaid with slip resistant safety flooring. An NMI floor tracking system, with 9 lengths of low profile tracking in the saloon floor, allows for 5 detachable single seats to be removed to accommodate 3 wheelchair passengers.

Additional waist rail height tracking at the rear provides secure storage for up to 3 folded wheelchairs when 3 seats have been removed.

The PLS Powermatic electro hydraulic wheelchair lift is fitted to the underside rear entrance, with an automatic roll-off prevention bar bridge plate, twin handrails and an auxiliary hand pump. The side door opens with an automatic two step aid with high visibility handrails.

All seats are M2 semi high back 425m/m wide headrests, all age/all generation lap and diagonal inertia reel restraint belts, plastic gangway sleeves and complete with Incontinence Ambla squabs.

This is the second used minibus delivered to a branch of Age UK by Stanford.

Blackburn and Darwen accepted their quality used Volkswagen Crafter in March 2012. As the charity’s preferred supplier, Stanford Coachworks is working hard to develop their product offering to fit a bus price within the customer’s budget, timeframe and specification requirements of the individual support centres.  All used sales come with a guarantee of no more than one previous owner, full MOT and complete service history.

Liz Walmsley concludes: “We were delighted with the Minibus from Stanford’s, David Hardacre kept in touch with us all through the process and everything went according to plan. The service and advice we received was very professional and we did not feel pressured in any way. We look forward to dealing with them again when our other minibus needs replacing.”
