T6 Transport for Civilised Car Hire

You may have seen a few of our production, television and music industry conversions produced for Civilised Car Hire in some of our previous newsletters, but this month we have been busy creating something a little different for them!

To help transport musicians, actors, film crews and everyone in between, we have converted three Volkswagen T6’s all with a premium interior finish.

Civilised Car Hire are one of Europe’s leading specialist rental car companies who have served the media and production industry for well over 25 years. We have been working with Civilised for 20 of those years to convert a variety of different sized production vehicles and splitter buses. During this time, we have designed a bespoke specification which many of Civilised’s vehicles follow. With each fleet update comes new and exciting technology, so we are always sure to sit down with the team to include a few extras!

These brand-new vehicles are based on the new model Volkswagen T6.1 Highline’s and have been finished in both metallic beige paint and pure grey paint. Tow follow suit with all of Civilised’s other premium vehicles, we upgraded the interior of the T6’s to achieve a luxurious twist.

Each seat, including those in the front cabin, has been reupholstered in a black e-leather with contrasting ‘S-style’ silver stitching. We have also lined the interior and roofing with both soft feel grey material and premium black suede flex. Our very own SCW individual passenger lighting has also been fitted to illuminate the passenger saloon and a control panel with blue / white lighting switches, USB and USB-c charging points has also been included. Take a look at the full specification below to find out more…

Expansion for Enterprise: We Built a Mobile Assessment Unit

To help reduce the pressure on both ambulance and policing services, we have been working closely with our long-term leasing clients Enterprise Flex-E-Rent to help introduce a new mobile assessment unit to the market. The premium transportation service will be offered as part of Enterprise’s hire scheme to a variety of medical organisations including the NHS.

How will these new vehicles be used?

These brand-new vehicles will be available to hire through Enterprise Flex-E-Rent for a variety of different uses. The main aim is to help relieve pressure from vital services by using the vehicles to undertake initial patient assessments. A premium finish complete with ambient lighting helps achieve a calming yet non-clinical environment to help assess those in need. Most vehicles will be fully equipped and staffed appropriately so that they are able to respond to emergencies close by if required.

Bespoke Designs by Stanfords

With designs continually evolving, we are proud to offer our clients a huge variety of features due to our bespoke conversion approach. We have been working closely with one of our returning clients, Essex County Council, to produce additional Flat Floor Mercedes Sprinters for their impressive fleet.

Back in 2019 we converted a vast number of front-entry L3H2 Mercedes Sprinters for Essex County Council, but four years (and a worldwide pandemic) later, their vehicles were ready for an upgrade. To keep the fleet professionally co-ordinated, all of Essex’s new minibuses feature the same interior and exterior colour scheme - just with a few added extras!

How have we adapted these vehicles?

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, our clients have been designing their vehicles using a different approach. Many have requested for custom-built structures to help separate drivers and passengers in order to minimise close contact where possible. Previously we have installed full bulkheads with perspex screens, single perspex screens to passenger seats, sanitisation stations and more. Essex County Council were after something a little different though to help protect their drivers.

Our latest custom-built protective screen has been designed to provide the driver with a designated safe area. The design includes one of our driver’s screens completed with a night blind, plus a custom-fitted hinged protective screen finished with a strong magnet. The hinged screen creates a protective door that can easily be opened should the driver be required to attend the passenger saloon in an emergency.

We believe that working with our clients to help create these bespoke designs is what makes our conversions stand out from the crowd. Take a look at some of the protective screen designs that have featured in our other conversions.

Under the Microscope with Stanford Coachworks

Throughout the month of February we took an in-depth look into each of our conversion types with our ‘Under the Microscope’ series. Each Friday we gave you a detailed look into a different Stanfords conversion on our social media. If you didn’t have the chance to see it, you can take a look below.

Week One - Wheelchair Accessible Super Flat Floor Conversions

Our exclusive Super Flat Floor conversions are fully accessible and are designed to maximise space in the rear saloon. This additional space is achieved by eliminating all wheel arch intrusions and by installing a specialist tail lift which sits in-between the original vehicle floor and the SCW Super Flat Floor.

Week Two- Medical Service Vehicles

Our medical service vehicles are built to suit individual authorities and are designed to meet the most rigorous and demanding situations. All special features are stringently tested and conform to the latest legislation and health & safety regulations. The materials used within these conversions help provide a completely sterile environment.

Week Three - Production, Television & Music Industry Vehicle Conversions

Our production, TV and music industry vehicle conversions are designed to the highest quality and reliability to meet any specific touring requirements. We can create separate compartments with illuminated dressing tables or equipment storage areas plus premium passenger cabins in a variety of different configurations.

Week Four - Bespoke Conversions

From mobile doctors clinics and on the road barbershops to mobile training and education centres, our unique conversion process allows us to design a vast range of bespoke and specialist vehicles that meet our clients specific requirements.
