Another SCW Minibus for Teesside Ability Support Centre

This month we had the pleasure of delivering a brand-new Mercedes Sprinter to one of our long-term clients Teesside Ability Support Centre (TASC).

Who are TASC?

The services have a fantastic team of fully qualified staff on hand to provide excellent personal care. Teesside Ability Support Centre provides a safe environment for members to socialise in with a number of activities on offer including music, games, arts and crafts, hydrotherapy and trips out in their new fully wheelchair accessible minibus! Over the years we have converted a variety of accessible vehicles for TASC, with the first being delivered over 10 years ago in 2012.

Their new accessible vehicle is based on a L4H2 Mercedes Sprinter and features our specialist Flat Floor design, along with six custom stitched passenger seats, our exclusive fold-out step and an underfloor tail lift.

Teesside Ability Support Centre have been delivering a variety of services to adults with differing abilities since 1967. The organisation runs supportive day services for those aged 18+ with physical disabilities.

TASC’s New Minibus

Many of TASC’s members require wheelchairs, so our Flat Floor design is the perfect solution for them. The SCW Flat Floor provides maximum passenger seating and wheelchair space in the rear saloon by eliminating all wheel arch intrusions. The removal of wheel arch intrusions means less restrictions on where wheelchairs can be secured, allowing TASC to transport up to 5 members at any one time.

It has been a pleasure to supply Teesside Ability Support Centre with another Stanfords minibus and we hope that the members enjoy using the vehicle for their upcoming day trips! We would like to thanks TASC for their custom and we hope to continue working with them in the future.

Caring for your Stanford Coachworks Minibus This Winter

With winter fast approaching is your minibus prepared? Take a look at our handy tips below to ensure that your minibus is in the best condition.

Side Steps

Any side steps fitted to the exterior of your vehicle are exposed to all weather and road conditions so it is important to maintain them well.

How can you prepare?

  • Regularly jet wash your side step to prevent a build up of dirt and road grit.

  • Always use silicone spray instead of WD40 as silicone spray will help to repel any dirt and grit.

  • Reguarly check your side step by deploying and stowing it. Visually inspect your side step for damage too as this could effect its performance.

Floor Tracking

Grit and dirt from shoes can easily end up in your floor tracking, but if you’re removing and reinstalling passenger seats often, it is essential to keep them clean.

How can you prepare?

  • Similarly to the side step, it is important to keep your tracking clean by regularly vacuuming any dirt or grit out.

  • Regularly inspect your floor tracking to ensure that it is clear and contains no dirt / grit.

  • Always ensure that your tracking is clear before re-installing passenger seating. Any dirt / grit can effect how secure the seat is so make sure that the red pin on the base of your removable seat fixings fully drops into position. If not, something could be stuck in the tracking preventing it from fully locking into place.

Heating

Before it gets too cold, make sure you are well prepared by checking that your vehicle’s passenger saloon heaters are working effectively.

How can you prepare?

  • Ensure that your heater is regularly serviced by the manufacturer. You can find the manufacturer name on the heater controls or in the manual in your vehicle book pack. This will either be ‘Eberspacher’ or ‘Webasto’.

  • For additional information on how to find your nearest service agent, refer to your vehicle book pack or visit the manufactures website.
