Branding Buses at Guildhall Yard
Earlier this month, one of the SCW team members, Amerjit, visited the annual Cart Marking Ceremony at Guildhall Yard and whilst there, spotted a Stanfords minibus!
What is Cart Marking?
The Ford Transit Custom, converted for Treloar School and College, was taking part in the historic ceremony where Sheriffs and Carmen, dressed in traditional robes, brand vehicles with a red-hot iron in a ritual known as ‘Cart Marking’. The ceremony dates back 500 years and celebrates the origin of vehicle licencing and transport throughout the ages.
Stanford Coachworks at the 2016 Cart Marking Ceremony
In 2016, We visited the Cart Marking Ceremony ourselves with our one-of-a-kind bespoke 1969 MK1 Ford Transit. Our little green Transit definitely turned some heads at the ceremony, as inside it features a bespoke Stanfords conversion with a retro leather seating area, a kitchen area with a sink and coffee machine, a fridge, a television and a classic record player.
Thanks to Amerjit for sharing this great photo with us! If you have spotted a Stanfords minibus in action, click the button below to send us your photos and for the chance to feature in our next newsletter.

A Second Stanfords Sprinter for Nishkam Swat
Earlier this month, we were revisited by UK Sikh charity, Nishkam Swat wo were in need of a second Stanfords conversion to help out with their homeless outreach project.
Nishkam Swat are a Sikh welfare and awareness team based in West London. Their main focus is to transform financially disadvantaged communities through the help of their numerous projects. The charity was founded in 2008 as a youth club, but after discovering over 200 people sleeping rough, they knew that they needed to help.
Last year we upgraded Nishkam Swat’s existing Mercedes Sprinter to include a safe split space for transporting volunteers, food and supplies to a number of different locations. Their first Sprinter helped massively, so this year they returned with a second Mercedes Sprinter for us to upgrade.
Nishkam Swat provided us with a Mercedes Sprinter 316 L3H2 which we converted to a bespoke specification, similar to our splitter van conversions. For the full conversion, view the walkaround video below. You can also read the full story on the SCW Blog by clicking the button below.
We would like to thank Nishkam Swat for returning to Stanford Coachworks for their second Sprinter conversion. It’s great to see how our conversions are helping contribute towards their wide range of welfare projects. We look forward to upgrading their next Sprinter which is now on site with us! We would also like to wish them all the best for the future with their incredible work.
