Handicabs Lothian Goes Green!

We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to supply Handicabs Lothian with their first fully-electric wheelchair accessible vehicle. Their new vehicle is based on the Maxus eDeliver 9, supplied by Maxus - Heathrow Van Centre, and can facilitate up to 9 passengers or 2 wheelchair occupants with seats removed.

Who are Handicabs Lothian?

Handicabs Lothian (HcL Transport) is a charity who provide supported accessible transport to people with mobility challenges in Edinburgh and the Lothians. Their services run 365 days a year and include a dial-a-ride, dial-a-bus and community bus service, all available with additional door to door assistance if required. The minibuses are accessible to people of any age with disabilities, additional support needs, long or short-term health issues affecting mobility and geographical remoteness.

HcL Goes Green

Thanks to green initiatives like Plugged-In Communities, HcL Transport were supported with a grant from Energy Saving Trust and are now leading the way with an eco-friendly fleet, enhancing community services whilst contributing to environmental sustainability. Handicabs Lothian’s Fundraising and Marketing Manager, Dolina Gorman, says ‘We are delighted to be able to offer more shared, zero emission journeys throughout the Lothians.’

HcL’s New Maxus eDeliver 9

Handicabs Lothian’s brand-new wheelchair accessible minibus features a colourful grey and orange interior with wipe clean removable seating, an automatic side step, an internal tail lift and LED interior lighting. Nigel of the SCW sales team had the pleasure of delivering the vehicle an impressive 394 miles from Heathrow Van Centre in Hounslow all the way to Handicabs Lothian in Scotland! Throughout the journey, Nigel made strategic stops at pre-assigned chargers, ensuring a seamless and uninterrupted delivery process.
